I was asked to make this baby boy quilt for my daughter to give to a particular friend. I hoped, as I always do, that it was going to be a collaboration between me and my daughter. It didn’t quite work out that way. She had a vague idea of what she wanted and although… Continue reading Come Sail Away
I’ve never been a fan of hearts in my quilts or crafts, but even I can make an exception. About 20 years ago I made this little quilt with my first daughter in mind. What can I say people around me, inspire my fabric choices. My daughters have always been a source of inspiration for… Continue reading February Features Hearts in the Art and Craft World
I love to celebrate new life with a little something homemade. I didn't have much time according to the baby shower invitation. Time is subjective to a Quilter . We need a lot of it, to do what we do! Beside’s my time restraint, I didn't know the new mother well. I didn’t know the nursery decor,… Continue reading Something Pink for Someone Little
This is probably going to be the last quilt I make in 2017. Last night I finished the quilting. Next on my list, is to trim and bind. The fabric is a layer cake mixed with black yardage that I picked up a few years ago. I plan to make the pattern again in fresh… Continue reading The Moda Love Layercake Quilt
One of the best things about social media is the ability to reach people who enjoy the same hobbies. The teaching aspect is super appealing to me. I surf for projects all the time. Sometimes I make what I find. Sometimes it's visually inspiring. The zipper pouch featured below was made from a video tutorial that… Continue reading The Susie pleated bag
What does an empty nest mom do when Halloween comes along? I decided to make a quilt. Of course the theme would be spooky and the pattern bold. I had a stash of fabric and the will to craft it into something special. I felt a little forlorn with the weather changing and no little… Continue reading The Swoon Halloween quilt
This quilt has become a favorite of mine. It made the wall in my sewing/quilting room. I take it to class with me when I’m teaching machine quilting because it contains good examples of free motion, computer, and micro quilting. Plus it’s small, so it’s portable. The pattern is from Fig Tree &Co. It’s called… Continue reading Cherry quilt
Lots of color I like to be in the sunshine. I don’t mind getting my hands dirty.
When I'm working on a quilt I like to keep my tools on a quilted placemat. It's easy to reach items and I can put them back and nothing rolls off onto floor. In a future post, I'll show how I made these useful placemats.
My trip to Magnolia Market should have included eating from one of the food trucks that provide for customers at the silos. I couldn't get close to the cupcakes, crepes or other goodies because of the swarms of hungry folks. It was cold, overcast, overcrowded, and I was overwhelmed. I wanted to get warm so… Continue reading Whats for lunch at the Backyard Bar?
I stopped at Magnolia Market while on a short trip to Waco Texas. If you're a fan of the show Fixer Upper, then you've heard of Chip and Joanna Gaines. The husband and wife duo renovate homes, decorate, landscape, and basically make people's "home sweet home" dreams come true. The couple opened up a market… Continue reading My trip to Magnolia Market
